Everquest = Crack

When games stop being fun - Tech News - CNET.com lol best line from this story: "I've seen a number of cases with 17- or 18-year-old males where they have a broadband (Internet) connection and they basically haven't left the house for years." lol, there was a 6 or 7 month period a few years back when I first started playing Ultima Online... I was unemployed at the time, and I litterally did not leave the house... I remember I went out with some friends and said "Wow, where'd all the leaves go on the trees.". I literally missed a whole season of time. Man, they still tease me about that to this day. :)

So you want to make your own MMORPG...

Actually yes, but I think things outlined in this rant are absolutely true and I start to regain some of my sanity. Just running an my own UO server is almost more than I can handle. :)

Update: YOU WILL NOT FIND ANY INFORMATION ON HOW TO RUN A RAGNAROK ONLINE SERVER HERE! Go away! shesh

Update 04-05-2004: Comments turned off due to flood of stupidity

Number 1 reason you know its time to quit playing EQ...

Toontown is back!

Posted by Tony Buser Thu, 21 Feb 2002 15:46:00 GMT

wow... someone found out the link that was removed from Toontown's Webpage to play the game is actually still there. And if you goto it and ignore the browser messages asking to close the window, you can eventually get into the game and the servers are still up! Even though the open beta has officially(?) ended. No official word from Disney. Some people have clamed to have seen server wide messages to the effect of "have fun guys". They must know that a small hoard of uber geeks are in there and playing around. (highest I've seen online has been about 40 people) All I can say is Must. Play. More. Toontown! wheee! My shame at enjoying a game targeted to 5-10 year olds is much lessened. Kinda. :) Thanks goes to the Ars Technica boards for clueing me in on the fact that Toontown's death has been greated exagerrated. Oh and check out Toontown Central

Oh and if you don't know what it is or wanna play, get a case of soda and a carton of cigarettes and prepare for the addiction by clicking here. And look for Uber and say hi. :)

EQ Legends

Posted by Tony Buser Sat, 02 Feb 2002 16:36:00 GMT

Sony's latest attempt at sucking even more money out of the hopelessly addicted: EQ Legends. Guild management tools, character profile pages updated from the everquest server data, improved customer service, dynamic quests, unique items, limited server population, and various other things that should be included for everyone for the perfectly reasonable price cough of $40 bucks a month. (thats US bucks, not canadian) Well I still have an EQ account and I play once in a blue moon when the mood strikes me. I was even suckered into getting luclin. However, I think I'm going to have to pass on this one.
